The Visual Arts program at St. Timothy’s is designed to bring out artistic abilities you may not even be aware you have. We begin with fundamentals of two- and three-dimensional design, and move on from there to higher levels of creative expression in painting and drawing, sculpture, ceramics, photography, computer-aided design, and other media. The more proficient you become with arts basics, the more your teachers will nudge you toward new levels of creative expression. The arts curriculum is integrated with what you’ll be learning in other classes, so that what you learn in history or science, for example, will enrich what you’re painting or sculpting, and vice versa. And for all St. Timothy’s artists – which is to say all St. Timothy’s students – there are many opportunities to display your creations throughout the School.
With an arts program as robust as ours, it’s no surprise that great artists frequently emerge from here. Recent graduates have been accepted to such noted arts schools as the Savannah College of Art and Design, the Pratt Institute, Parsons School of Design, and Carnegie Mellon University, among others. And St. Timothy’s alumnae have gone on to successful and rewarding careers in a wide range of arts and design fields.
